Abstract
Corrosion resistance behaviour of copper was evaluated in 2M H2SO4 using ammonium dichromate as inhibitor. The experiments were carried out at ambient temperature of 25°C employing potentiodynamic polarization measurement. The concentration of the inhibitor was varied during the electrochemical experiment. The corrosion rate and other parameters were obtained via the extrapolation of the Tafel curves. The results obtained showed the susceptibility of copper without the inhibitor in the H2SO4 alone and its protective inhibition when different concentrations of ammonium dichromate were used as inhibitor in the acid test medium.
