Abstract
Cote d’Ivoire, a West African nation with a rich history in cocoa production and diverse natural resources, stands at a crucial juncture in its economic trajectory. Over the past decade, the Ivorian economy has gone through many challenges such as political instability, poverty and so much more. Yet, amongst these challenges lies a promising path for sustainable economic development: the National System of Innovation (NSI). Using a qualitative methodology, this mini dissertation investigates Cote d'Ivoire's economic development prospects via the prism of its NSI. Hence, the evaluation of economic indicator categories which includes the Accumulation regime to investigate the extent of reliance on former colonizers, Governance to scrutinize the government's legitimacy, Human capabilities to gauge human development indicators, Economic base to examine its diversification, and the national system of science and technology to devise solutions for enhancing the innovation sector is reviewed. With a growing certitude that employing the NSI will help solve the Ivorian education system's shortcomings, lack of human capability, youth unemployment, inequality, accountability, and poverty in order to reach better economic development.
